The issue of granting the title of national hero to former president Suharto is no longer just an empty discourse – it is a reflection of how power continues to reproduce itself in order to whitewash the dark history of the nation.

Now, the consolidation of the political elites to support the title of hero for Suharto has become increasingly massive, especially after the Ministry of Social Affairs released a list of 10 candidates for the title of national hero in 2025 which included Suharto's name.

Muhammad Naufal – Special Presidential Advisor for Politics and Security, Wiranto, says that President Prabowo Subianto respects the eight points in the demands by the Indonesian Military (TNI) Retired Soldiers Forum. This was stated by Wiranto after meeting Prabowo at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday April 24.

According to Wiranto, Prabowo respects the suggestions submitted by the TNI Retired Soldiers Forum, considering that Prabowo was also a former TNI officer.

Nicholas Ryan Aditya, Ardito Ramadhan, Jakarta – The head of the Indonesian Military's (TNI) Information Centre (Kapuspen), Brigadier General Kristomei Sianturi, suspects there is an attempt to delegitimise the government after incidents in which TNI officers have entered campuses have been criticised by many parties.

According to Sianturi, this is an effort to pit the TNI against students, even though the TNI should be close to students because Indonesia adheres to the total people's security and defence system (Sishankamrata).

Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has denied the notion that he is being "lied to" by his ministers in the Red and White Cabinet. He said that there are some who say he is being "lied to" by his subordinates and the Indonesian economy is only good on paper. Prabowo dismisses this view.

"I'm very happy. Every time I see a real success. Some say I'm lied to by my ministers. Some say that the Indonesian economy is only good on paper. Not so, it's in front of our eyes, our economy is in front of our eyes", Prabowo said in South Sumatra on Wednesday April 23.
