Amid a string of recent arrests by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in sting operations (OTT) targeting corrupt local officials and regional legislators, in addition to adding provisions to the revised Criminal Code (KUHP) to criminalise homosexuality and extramarital sex between consensual adults, lawmakers also want to include corruption-related articles in the bill which the KPK says will threaten the graft agency’s powers and hinder its corruption investigations.
