Traffic cop (top left): Toot-toot, wail-wail, toot-toot.
Speech bubbles: Does the president wants to get past? A special staffer? A special delegate? A deputy minister? The vice president? A coordinating minister? What's going on, we can't move. Who cares. Most lightly an illegal strobe light. Where are we supposed to move aside to?
Calls for revisions to the government regulation on protocol have gained traction following a video that went viral recently on social media involving a traffic patrol officer escorting an official black government vehicle with the number plates RI 36 on Jenderal Sudirman in Jakarta.
The footage, which depicts the escort officer impatiently pointing a finger at a taxi driver and ordering them to move aside and let the black vehicle past sparked widespread criticism online with netizens expressing disapproval of the officer's perceived arrogance and disregard for other road users.
In response, the Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate said it had issued a stern warning to the officer concerned.
Presidential special envoy for youth and art workers, Raffi Ahmad, later clarified that the black vehicle with RI 36 license plates did in fact belonged to him, but claimed that he was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident, saying that car was allegedly on route to pick him up for his next meeting after transporting important files.
