Dwi Bowo Raharjo and Novian Ardiansyah – A crowd of protesters have joined in “safeguarding” the first hearing of a challenge to the 2019 presidential election results by the loosing ticket of Prabowo Subianto and running mate Sandiaga Uno at the Constitutional Court.
During the rally in the vicinity of the Horse Statue on Jl Medan Merdeka Barat in Central Jakarta on Friday June 14, the crowd sang the song 2019 Change the President (#2019GantiPresiden).
Speaking through a loudspeaker from the command vehicle, the composer of the song 2019 Change the President and Prabowo supporter Sang Alang invited the crowd to sing the song.
“2019 change the president. Not with a president who likes to jail ulama [Islamic clerics] and the people”, said Alang which was repeated by the crowd.
Meanwhile Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) General Chairperson Sobri Lubis, who was also on the command vehicle, could be seen sitting cross legged as he joined in listening to Alang and the crowd singing.
Earlier Lubis said that the FPI members were not there to support the 02 Prabowo-Sandiaga ticket saying that their presence was not related to politics. Their presence at the action was to support the Constitutional Court in hearing the election dispute.
“We came here not because we support 02, we want the truth to be upheld. Prabowo has already asked people not to come, [but[ we didn’t came here for political reasons”, said Lubis at the location of the action.
