Fira Prameswari, Jakarta – Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana says that the Corruption Eradication Commission leadership selection committee or Pansel Capim KPK is not supporting the eradication of corruption.
“The Pansel’s maneuvers show that they do not support the elimination of corruption “, said Ramadhana during the opening of a KPK Capim Track Record Public Complaints Post at the Legal Aid Foundation (LBH) offices in Central Jakarta on Jul 16, 2019.
Ramadhana believes that the KPK leadership candidate selection committee is giving a red carpet to law enforcement officials to become KPK leaders.
This is contrary to the initial aim of establishing the KPK, namely an independent anti-corruption state institution which was established because of the police and law enforcement official’s inability to eradicate corruption.
“The KPK Pansel Capim is perverting the mandate of the KPK law”, said Ramadhana.
KPK leadership candidate selection committee Chairperson Yenti Garnasih has said that 13 of the registered candidates are active police officers who have passed the administrative selection.
So ICW is suspicious of the selection committee’s motives and says it must be monitored by the public.
“There is a plot to bring people in who will in fact weaken the function of the KPK”, said Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) Chairperson Asfinawati on the selection committee.
