Jakarta – The Adolescent, Child and Women's Sub-Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police General Crimes Detectives Directorate (Subdit Renakta Ditreskrimum) raided a gay sex party being held at a hotel in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Saturday February 1 at around 9 pm.

"There was a same-sex sex party, men or gays. So an LGBT [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender] sex party was held by men of the same sex", Metro Jaya public relations division head Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi told reporters on Monday February 3.

During the raid, the police also arrested 56 men who were involved in the gay sex party. Of the dozens of people arrested, three have been named suspects (charged).

These three suspects are RH alias R and RE alias E, who played a role in paying for the hotel room, as well as BP alias D who played a role in recruiting participants.

Indradi explained the actions of the suspect D, who one by one contacted the participants to participate in the gay sex party. In total, 20 people were contacted by D. "Then they also each invited people, inviting other colleagues who wanted to join this event", he said.

From the results the preliminary investigation, Indradi revealed that the gay sex party was free or free of charge. "There was no fee charged by the organisers, the three suspects. It was just based on the satisfaction and pleasure they wanted to get", he said.

Indradi also revealed that during the gay party, the suspect D also appealed to the participants to enjoy the event. D also asked participants who received a partner that was not suitable not to reject them rudely. In addition to this, the suspects as the organisers also prepared glow in the dark stickers.

"Then the participants started the event by taking off their clothing down to their pants and the participants were asked to use the identity labels in the form of stickers", said Indradi.

"The ones playing the role of men did not use stickers, and those [playing the role of] females, they wore a sticky label on the shoulder, so when the lights were turned off, the stickers glowed in the dark", he added.

Aside from this, Indradi said that Metro Jaya Subdit Renakta Ditreskrimum investigators are still delving into the gay sex party case. "It's still being delved into, how long these activities have been held, where exactly, how many times and so on", he said.

The police also confiscated a number of items as evidence from the location including, among other things, contraceptives, anti-HIV drugs and soap.

The three suspects have been charged under Article 33 in conjunction with Article 7 and or Article 36 of Law Number 4/2008 on Pornography and or Article 296 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years and or a maximum fine of 7.5 billion rupiah. (dis/gil)
