Muhammad Naufal – Special Presidential Advisor for Politics and Security, Wiranto, says that President Prabowo Subianto respects the eight points in the demands by the Indonesian Military (TNI) Retired Soldiers Forum. This was stated by Wiranto after meeting Prabowo at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday April 24.
According to Wiranto, Prabowo respects the suggestions submitted by the TNI Retired Soldiers Forum, considering that Prabowo was also a former TNI officer.
"The President does indeed respect and understand these ideas. Because we know that he and the retirees have one alma mater, one struggle, one dedication", said Wiranto at the State Palace on Thursday.
"Of course, he has the same moral attitude as the spirit of the Sapta Marga [military oath] and the soldier's oath. Therefore, he understands that", he continued.
Nevertheless, Wiranto said Prabowo could not provide an immediate response to the proposal because Prabowo reportedly needs to study the contents of each point submitted as the issues presented are fundamental.
Wiranto said that Prabowo's authority is within the framework of a constitutional system that adheres to the principle of a separation of powers. Therefore, proposals that are outside of the executive domain will not be responded to directly.
"In a country that adheres to trias politica, there is a separation between the executive, legislative and judiciary. They cannot interfere with each other. So proposals that are not within the President's field, not the President's domain, of course the President will not answer or respond to that", asserted Wiranto.
Wiranto took the opportunity to say that he conveyed Prabowo's message so that the public would not be provoked by the polemic developing on social media regarding the proposals by the TNI Retired Soldiers Forum.
"The differences should not cloud the atmosphere at a time when we are facing many challenges. I think that is the President's message", he said.
Earlier, a number of retired TNI members from the Forum of Retired TNI Soldiers made eight demands in a statement on the current situation. The letter was signed by 103 generals, 73 admirals, 65 air-marshals and 91 colonels.
The document was signed by retired generals Fachrul Razi and Tyasno Soedarto, retired Admiral Slamet Soebijanto and retired Air Chief Marshal Hanafie Asnan, with the knowledge of retired General Try Sutrisno.
The following is a complete list of the eight demands of the TNI Retired Soldiers Forum:
1. Return to the original 1945 Constitution as a political legal system and administrative order.
2. Support the working program of the Red and White Cabinet known as (ASTA CITA), except for the continuation of the development of the new national capital city (IKN) in East Kalimantan.
3. End the national strategic projects (PSN) Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK 2), the Rempang Echo City project and similar cases because they are very detrimental, oppress local communities and are resulting in environmental damage.
4. Stop Chinese foreign workers from entering the territory of the Republic of Indonesia and return Chinese workers to their home country.
5. The government is obliged to regulate mining management that is not in accordance with regulations and the 1945 Constitution Article 33 Paragraph 2 and Paragraph 3.
6. Reshuffle the ministers who are strongly suspected of having committed corruption crimes and take firm action against officials and state apparatus that are still tied to the interests of the former and 7th president of the Republic of Indonesia, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
7. Return the National Police to its Kamtibmas (public security and order) function under the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).
8. Propose the replacement of the vice president (Gibran Rakabuming Raka) to the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) because the Constitutional Court's decision on Article 169 Letter Q of the Election Law violated the Constitutional Court's procedural law and the Law on Judicial Authority.
