Amid rising sectarian tensions fueled by hardline Islamic groups calling for Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama, a Christian of Chinese descent, to be charged with blasphemy, on November 14 a former terrorism convict threw a Molotov cocktail at a church in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, severely injuring three children and killing 2-year-old Intan Olivia Marbun. It was the second attack on a church in the past four months.
