Chandra Iswinarno and Ria Rizki Nirmala Sari – Razman Arif Nasution, the legal affairs spokesperson for the Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin election campaign team (TKN), says that the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Democrat Party are beginning to change course towards the Widodo camp.
Given these political maneuvers, Nasution confirmed that the two parties, who currently support the loosing presidential ticket of Prabowo Subianto and running mate Sandiaga Uno, will definitely get ministerial seats in the next cabinet.
Nasution said that PAN and the Democrat Party are already showing signs of abandoning Prabowo’s Just and Prosperous Indonesian Coalition. In fact he does not even deny that Widodo will later give the two parties ministerial seats.
“God willing there is still (a chance of this), I’m sure there definitely is. They will definitely get at least one ministerial seat each”, said Nasution when contacted by Suara.com on Saturday June 22.
Widodo however will not be dividing up the ministerial seats cited by Nasution any time soon. Nasution said that the allocation of ministerial seats will only be done after Widodo’s Working Indonesia Coalition’s (KIK) affairs are in order.
Although Nasution says that they will get ministerial seats, he advised PAN and the Democrats to maintain political ethics because currently they are still part of the Just and Prosperous Indonesia Coalition.
Because of this therefore, Nasution is advising PAN and the Democrat Party to be patient and wait for the Constitutional Court’s (MK) ruling on the 2019 presidential election result challenge by the Prabowo camp which will be handed down on June 28.
“It would indeed be best to [maintain] political ethics until the final MK hearing is held, so it would be better not to cross over before then, in order to respect their colleagues”, he asserted.
