Ari Sandita Murti, Jakarta – On Sunday December 17, a Zara shop at the Pondok Indah Mall in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, was visited by several women concerned about Palestine where they held a peaceful protest.
In a video of the action, which was uploaded by the Instagram account @sisitrang.official on Monday December 18, it stated that the women held the protest both outside and inside the Zara shop.
The protest action was in response to an advertisement entitled The Jacket which was seen as an insult against the events that have occurred in Palestine.
In the video, a number of women could be seen placing posters around the shop with pictures depicting what has been happening in Palestine. They were placed on piles of clothing being sold at the shop and on the cashier's desk.
Moreover a number of small figures wrapped in white cloth which appeared to resemble replicas of babies' corpses were also placed on the cashier's desk and several corners of the shop.
"A number of women concerned about Palestine held a protest action outside and inside the Zara [shop] at the Pondok Indah Mall in South Jakarta on Sunday December 17", read the post.
Recently, Zara's shops around the world have faced protests by people concerned about Palestine in the aftermath of a controversial advertising campaign featuring mannequins with missing limbs and statues wrapped in white sheeting.
So far there has yet to be any response from Zara over the action.
