Anggi Muliawati, Jakarta – Indonesian Human Rights Watch (Imparsial) found there were 26 cases of intolerance recorded by the media as occurring in Indonesia in 2022. Imparsial revealed that West Java (Jabar) is the region with the highest number of cases of violations of religion and belief (KBB).

Jakarta – The Setara Institute for Democracy and Peace is asking Education, Culture, Research and Technology Minister Nadiem Makarim to take firm action against state schools forcing students to wear the jilbab – an Islamic female headdress which leaves the face exposed.

Irfan Kamil, Jakarta – The government has asked the Constitutional Court (MK) to reject a judicial review of law Number 1/1974 on Marriage. The law is being challenged by a person named E Ramos Petege – who is a Catholic – because he is unable to marry his beloved who is a Muslim.

Widya Michella, Jakarta – The secretary general of the country's peak Islamic body the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI), Amirsyah Tambunan, is asking the Surabaya District Court to annul a recent interfaith marriage that it authorised on June 20.

The marriage is registered as Number 916/Pdt./2022/PN/Sby.

Jakarta – The Jemaat Ahmadiyah Indonesia (JAI) community says that acts of intolerance such as those which occurred at Balai Harapan Village in Tempunak sub-district, Sintang regency, West Kalimantan, are spreading to other areas.

Rahel Narda Chaterine, Jakarta – The Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) says that the Bogor city municipal government's (Pemkot) move to grant land to the Yasmin Indonesian Christian Church (GKI Yasmin) to build a new church sets a bad example in resolving such conflicts.

Jakarta – The Setara Institute for Peace and Democracy recorded 180 incidents and 412 acts which violated freedom of religion and belief (KBB) in Indonesia in 2020. The majority were committed by state actors.

Jakarta – Amnesty International Indonesia says that the government cannot just issue a joint ministerial decree (SKB) on uniforms in state schools. The decree must be followed by revoking the 2006 joint ministerial decree on establishing houses of worship.

Tsarina Maharani, Jakarta – A report by the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) shows that there are an increasing number of violations against the right to freedom of religion and belief every year.

Achmad Nasrudin Yahya, Jakarta – The Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) recorded 38 cases of religious blasphemy between January and May, 2020.

YLBHI Chairperson Asfinawati revealed that there were three pieces of legislation which were used to indict people in these cases.
