Jakarta – Demonstrators from the People's Challenge Coalition held a protest action in front of the Horse Statue in Central Jakarta on Friday afternoon, April 5, against the determination of the results of the 2024 elections by the General Elections Commission (KPU).
According to CNN Indonesia's observations at the location, the demonstration started at 3.20 pm. In speeches, the protesters said that the 2024 elections were organised in a fraudulent manner to benefit certain parties.
"We challenge the implementation of the 2024 elections which were held in a fraudulent manner. Our democracy is not doing well at all", said the action coordinator from the command vehicle.
The protest action was also held as a form of support for the Constitutional Court (MK) which is currently holding General Election Result Dispute (PHPU) hearings into the 2024 presidential election.
They support the Constitutional Court's move to summon four ministers to testify in the election dispute hearings. The protesters hope that with these summons the Constitutional Court will be able to see the forms of fraud committed by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in the election.
"The ministers were summoned by the MK, meaning there is something that is not okay. Hopefully the MK can uphold justice and side with the ordinary people", they said.
The four ministers from President Widodo's cabinet who were summoned to today's session were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini.
In addition to this, also present were representatives of the Election Organisers Ethics Council (DKPP) to provide information to the hearings.
The four ministers and the DKPP were presented based on a ruling by the court because the information they could provide is considered important. (tfq/tsa)
