Jakarta – May Day protesters have cancelled demonstrations in front of the State Palace and the Constitutional Court (MK) after failing to receive permission from police. The action on Monday May 1 was instead held at in the Horse Statue area of Central Jakarta.

Makawaru da Cunha, Jayapura – The All-Papua Student Executive Student Alliance is demanding that the police immediately and unconditionally release two Papuan students and West Papua National Committee (KNPB) international spokesperson Victor Yeimo.

Jakarta – A victim of the 1965 gross human rights violations, Bedjo Untung, is urging President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to revoke all legislation inherited from former president Suharto's New Order (Orba) regime that discriminate against victims of the 1965 killings.

International Labour Day 2022 was commemorated by the Labour Party as a "May Day Fiesta" at the Bung Karno Sports Stadium (GBK) in Jakarta on May 14. An estimated 30-60 thousand workers attended the fiesta. Even if the lower estimate of 30,000 is used it shows an increase in mass mobilisations.

Jakarta – A rainbow flag was flown alongside the Union Jack at the British Embassy in Jakarta on May 17. A number of groups subsequently criticised the flying of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) flag.
