Jakarta – Scores of students from Papua and West Papua plan to surrender themselves to the Metro Jaya regional police following the arrest of two activists who took part in a rally at the State Palace in Central Jakarta which ended in the raising of the Morning Star flag.

Hendra Friana – Muhammad Hisbun Payu (Is), an environmental activist from Sukoharjo in Central Java, was arrested by police in front of the Alfamidi minimarket in the Lenteng Agung area of South Jakarta on Sunday March 4.

The North Aceh regional police recently arrested 12 transgender women (waria) and forced them to become normal men again.

Muhammad Nur Abdurrahman, Makassar – The commemoration of Youth Pledge day on Friday October 28 at the Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) campus in Makassar, South Sulawesi, has ended in a clash between students and police.

During the clash, students set fire to as many as six police motorcycles and threw a seventh into a water drain.

The blue-beret troops were deployed with the primary duty of protecting the Freeport gold mine from all types of disturbances.
