Jakarta – Police arrested at least seven people in relation to a protest action in Jayapura on Tuesday May 10 against the creation of new autonomous regions (DOB) in Papua.

Jayapura – The Jayapura city municipal police arrested Buchtar Tabuni and Bazoka Logo along with five others for attacking police officers in the Heram district of Jayapura on Thursday March 24.

Tabuni and Logo are members of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) which his chaired by Benny Wenda.

Jakarta – Police arrested a total of 90 Papuan students during a protest action which ended in chaos near the Presidential Palace complex in Central Jakarta on Friday March 11.

As has been reported, the demonstration by the Papuan students was to oppose the creation of new provinces in Papua.

Atamus Kepno, Jayapura – The preliminary court hearing against West Papua National Committee (KNPB) international spokesperson Victor Yeimo was held at the Jayapura District Court in Abepura, Papua, on Monday February 21.

Jakarta – Papua activist and West Papua National Committee (KNPB) international spokesperson Victor Yeimo was formally indicted on charges of treason at the Jayapura District Court in Papua on Monday February 21.

Jakarta – Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) Chairperson Muhammad Isnur has accused Coordinating Minister for Security, Politics and Legal Affairs Mahfud MD of lying over an incident at Wadas Village in Purworejo regency, Central Java.

Jakarta – A resident of Wadas Village has reported that scores of police units entered their village in the Bener sub-district of Purworejo regency, East Java, on the morning of Wednesday February 9.

The resident, who did not want to reveal their name, said that the total number of police officers that arrived could not be confirmed.

Arnold Belau, Jayapura – The Timika regional chairperson of the West Papua National Committee (KNPB), Steven Itlay, who was reportedly arrested by police was released at 12 midnight local time on February 4.

Jakarta – A student demonstration held near the Arjuna Wijaya Horse Statue in Central Jakarta has ended in chaos with three students being arrested, one of which was assaulted by police.

Police chased down the students after the chaos broke out on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan. The reason for the chaos is not yet known.

Dhias Suwandi – Eight youths have been declared suspects on charges of makar (treason, subversion, rebellion) for flying the Morning Star flag at the Cenderawasih Sports Centre in Jayapura city, Papua, on Wednesday December 1.

The Morning Star is a symbol used as a flag by the Free Papua Organisation (OPM).
