Activists have slammed a General Elections Commission plan to criminalise campaigning for golput (abstaining or invalidating a vote) ahead of this year’s legislative and presidential elections. With the same tired-old establishment faces dominating the list of candidates, the Election Supervisory Committee has warned that the number of youth voters that would golput could reach 50% or more.
