Stepanus Purba, Medan (iNews.id) – Personnel from the North Sumatra (Sumut) regional police General Crimes Detectives Directorate (ditreskrimum) have uncovered a plus-plus massage parlor especially for homosexuals (gays) in Medan city. During the investigation, police detained 11 suspects in relation to the case.
North Sumatra regional police ditreskrimum director Senior Commissioner Irwan Anwar said that the gay massage parlor is located on Jl Ringroad in the Setia Budi II Complex in Medan Sunggal regency, Medan.
“There were 11 people who were detained and all of them were men. One person with the initials A was the recruiter and provided the location, the others meanwhile were therapists”, said Anwar on Wednesday June 3.
Following the operation, the gay massage parlor was closed down and cordoned off. The perpetrators used special communication methods to communicate with each other. Based on the questioning of the perpetrators, the massage parlor has been operating for around two years.
“Of course the perpetrators already had a network, or communication cells which could bring them together with clients. This is what we are delving into, there is a group app which they used”, said Anwar.
As a result of their actions, the suspects are being charged under Law Number 21/2007 on the Eradication of Human Trafficking which carries a minimum sentence of three years in prison and a maximum sentence of 15 years plus a minimum fine of 120 million rupiah and a maximum fine of 600 million rupiah.
“In addition to this they could be indicted under Article 296 of the KUHP (Criminal Code) on causing or facilitating the occurrence of an act of immorality”, he said.
