Ihsanuddin, Jakarta – A Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) survey shows that many lower-class people are satisfied with the performance of the administration of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

Litbang Kompas Manager Totok Suryaningtyas explained that people whose economic and social situation categorises them as lower-class were the biggest contributors to those who are satisfied in the survey conducted between May 27 and June 2.

"More than 80 percent of the proportion that declared they were satisfied came from the two lowest classes. They are the social classes that have been the recipients of various forms of [government] bansos [social assistance]", Suryaningtyas was quoted as saying by Kompas.id on Thursday June 20.

While the satisfaction level of respondents is in the socio-economic upper-middle and upper-class is much lower.

If elaborated in detail based on socio-economic class, the lower-classes declared a satisfaction level of 79.7 percent, the lower-middle class 77.0 percent, the upper-middle class 67.9 percent and the upper-class 53.1 percent.

"Likewise this pattern was also expressed by respondents with a low educational background with the proportion of those who are satisfied far greater than respondents with secondary and higher education backgrounds", Suryaningtyas added.

If broken down based on respondents' education level, 81.9 percent of respondents with a primary school education said they are satisfied with President Widodo's performance.

Meanwhile only 73.9 percent of respondents with a secondary education and only 54.3 of percent respondents with higher education were satisfied.

In general, the level of satisfaction in the Widodo-Amin administration also reached its highest peak, namely 75.6 percent, with dissatisfaction touching the lowest level to date at 24.4 percent.

The national leadership survey involved 28 Litbang Kompas researchers and 274 field workers and was conducted over the period May 27 to June 2. The survey covered 38 provinces and was fully funded by PT Kompas Media Nusantara.
