Jakarta – A number of academics have strongly criticised the decision by the House of Representatives (DPR) and the government of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to enact the Draft Criminal Code (RKUHP) into law today, Tuesday December 6.

Yogyakarta – Protesters calling themselves the People's Alliance Movement (ARB) gathered in front of the Yogyakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) on the afternoon of Wednesday September 7 to articulate their opposition to the recent fuel (BBM) price hike.

Huyogo Simbolon, Bandung – The Bandung branch of the Independent Journalists Association (AJI) believes that there are still a number of catch all articles in the latest version of the Draft Criminal Code (RKUHP).

Jakarta – The group Indonesia Criminal Justice Reform (ICJR) has revealed that there are still 73 problematic articles contained in the Draft Criminal Code (RKUHP) even after it was revised by the government and handed back to the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III in early July.

Jakarta – Forum of Concerned Citizens for Indonesia's Parliament (Formappi) researcher Lucius Karus believes that the government will in fact demean this year's Independence Day celebrations if it enacts the Draft Criminal Code (RKUHP) before August 17.

Singgih Wiryono, Jakarta – Press Council Chairperson Azyumardi Azra says that a media which broadcasts communist, Marxist and Leninist ideas could be subject to imprisonment. This stipulation is found in the latest version of the Draft Criminal Code (RKUHP) which is currently being deliberated by the House of Representatives (DPR).
